Season 6 Episode 20 - Soul Possession

In the present time CHAKRAM has found a new Xena scroll, it was found in the sea and was written by Joxer not Gabrielle. The scroll reveals that Xena may have been married to Ares! The officials at CHAKRAM read out the scroll to the press and some Xena fans, including Annie Day the reincarnation of Joxer. The scroll takes place after Gabrielle dies in season 3 when her and Hope go plummeting into a Lava pit, the scroll was written after Xena's visions in Adventures in the Sin Trade but before Xena found Gabrielle. The scroll goes like this Xena goes and finds Joxer, who is very drunk and still morning for Gabrielle and tells him that Gabrielle is still alive.

Joxer doesn't believe Xena and when he finds out that Xena thinks it because of her vision Joxer defiantly doesn't believe her. But Xena manages to get Joxer to go with her to find Gabrielle anyhow. While searching for her Ares goes to see Xena and asks her to marry him! Xena obviously declines but Ares tells her that if she marries him then he will tell her where Gabrielle is. After a lot of thinking, and Joxer trying to persuade her not to, Xena agrees to Ares's proposal as long as they get married in front of the fates, making it so that they cannot hurt each other or their family and friends, so Ares can't go and kill Gabrielle after giving her back to Xena. After Joxer throws him a stag night, one in which Ares leaves within minutes, Ares and Xena get ready for the big day. Meanwhile back in the present Mattie and Harry, Xena and Gabrielle reincarnated, have got married and are on the return from the honeymoon they find a letter from CHAKRAM inviting them to the read of the scroll. Mattie and Harry know that this means trouble and quickly go the CHAKRAM gathering. Meanwhile back in the time of ancient gods Xena and Ares are at the wedding ceremony but half way through Xena pulls out of the marriage and jumps down the same lava pit that Gabrielle and Hope went down! But before she gets to the bottom Ares appears in the pit and saves her life. He takes her to a forest where Xena realises that Ares did the same for Gabrielle and Hope because Gabrielle offered her eternal soul to him. Now that Xena realises Ares has Gabrielle's soul Xena tells him that she will make a swap her soul for Gabrielle's. Meaning that in every future life except for the one she is in now, Ares will have her soul and can do anything he likes with it including marrying her! Ares accepts and Xena signs a contract giving him her soul. Xena and Joxer take the contract wrap it in the scroll Joxer wrote and throw it to the bottom of the sea hoping Ares will never find it. Back at CHAKRAM they have the contract because it is in the scroll they found, by now Mattie and Annie are at the gathering but then Ares turns up to claim Xena's soul. After putting Xena back in her own body, instead of Joxer's, Ares and Xena fight. While fighting Xena manages to get Ares to destroy the contract with his own thunderbolt by accident. So now the contract is void and Xena has her soul back.
