Season 1 Episode 04 - Emancipation

The SG-1 team travel to Simarka (P3X-593) and meet a race of people descended from Mongols planted there by the Gou'ald. The tribes operate by a strict hierarchal code which includes women forced to remain subservient to the males. Dr. Carter naturally doesn't take too well to that, but saves the life of Abu, the son of the local Shavadai chief Mughal.

Abu proves less then grateful and kidnaps Sam and prepares to trade her for the hand of Nya, the daughter of Turghan, the leader of a rival tribe. Sam ends up as Turghan's prisoner but helps Abu to escape after she takes sympathy on the girl. Jack and the others come to her rescue, but Nya is captured and Sam must act as her champion in a fight to the death against Rughan. She wins and the two lovers are free to carry on with their life as SG-1 departs.
